Quiet games for a loud world

Quiet games for a loud world

June 16, 2026 · Marek Novák

Between the notifications and the news, some evenings you just want something calm. Hollow Lantern is the game I keep recommending for that — no combat, no timers, just a lantern and a lot of atmosphere.

These slower adventures ask you to look rather than react. Puzzles built around light and shadow reward patience, and the near-total lack of text lets the art do the talking.

They're short, and that's a feature. An evening or two is enough to see the whole thing, and you come away feeling like you actually finished something.

If you've been bouncing off busy games lately, try one of these. It's a genuinely different kind of rest.
